Mario de Marco will not be contesting the next general election.
He is the ninth Nationalist MP to announce he will not be standing for re-election.
Former Nationalist Deputy Leader, minister and MP Mario de Marco comes from one of the country’s best-known Nationalist Party families.
His father, Guido de Marco, served for many years as Deputy Leader of the PN, Deputy Prime Minister and senior minister before later becoming President of Malta.
Mario de Marco also went on to serve as a minister in a Nationalist administration and was widely regarded as one of the party’s more moderate voices.
