New investment in medical technology to be announced in coming days: PM

PM Robert Abela says new medical investment on the way

In an interview on ONE TV on Sunday morning, Prime Minister Robert Abela says the government will decide by June on how to regulate social media use among children, following a public consultation that drew around 200 submissions. He described excessive screen time as unacceptable, stressing the need for children to spend more time interacting in person.

Abela also announced that a new investment in medical technology will be revealed in the coming days. He reaffirmed plans to expand the emergency department at Mater Dei Hospital, develop new mental health wards, and build an intermediate hospital at St Vincent de Paul Hospital.

On infrastructure, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to constructing a motor racing track at Ħal Far.

Turning to European matters, Abela said he will aim to secure the best possible deal for Malta in upcoming negotiations on the EU’s multi-annual financial framework, citing his experience in previous talks.
