‘Ninvestu f’Saħħitna’ – A seminar organised on the importance of including fish for a balanced diet

The Parliamentary Secretariat for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights organised a seminar entitled ‘Ninvestu f’Saħħitna’, at Dar Kenn għal Saħħtek in Imtarfa. This seminar was addressed by a number of speakers coming from different sectors who spoke about the importance of eating healthy and having a balanced diet, on the need to consume more fish as they contain essential nutrients, and on the importance of undertaking regular physical exercise.

Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said addressed this seminar and spoke about the need for more people to include fish in their diet.

“We need to include more fish in our daily diet, as it contains a lot of essential nutrients for our body. Fresh and local products are always the best choice that one can have in their diet, as our local producers are committed to providing the best product to our citizens. If we consume more local fish, in addition to being beneficial to our health, we will also be supporting our fishermen in their work,” said the Parliamentary Secretary.

She concluded by stating that they are committed to increasing more awareness about the benefits of increasing fish in our diet and about the need to consume more local and fresh produce.

Amongst the speakers present at this seminar, there were Holistic Therapy Specialist Joyce Muscat, Gynaecologist Dr Margaret Spiteri, Physical Exercise Coach Matthaeus Grasso, Child Development Specialist Dr Nadette Spiteri, Nutritionist Daniele Maniscalco, and Director within the same Ministry, Sonya Sammut.
