The Malta Football Association expresses solidarity with referee C J Saliba who has suffered from an assault during the MAFA game between Marsa St. Michaels and Valletta Stars.
Saliba was assulted by a Valletta Stars player early in the second half forcing the official to suspend the game.
The incident will be subject to the disciplinary process which is equally applicable for amateur leagues organised by its member associations.
The Malta FA unequivocally condemns any form of violent behaviour and reiterates that violence has no place in football.
