At least 32 people are reported to have died and many hundreds injured as two strong earthquakes struck 100 miles from Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.
Reports say the first earthquake measured 7.1 on the Richter Scale, followed minutes later by a stronger tremor, measured at 7.5.
Authorities fear the death toll may rise much higher.
