As polling stations across Malta and Gozo closed at 10pm, Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, thanked the electorate who participated and exercised their right in this democratic process of the country.

In a message, President Myriam Spiteri Debono wrote;

With appreciation, Her Excellency also thanks the political parties who have conducted an electoral campaign in a serene, calm and mature manner over the past five weeks. This bodes well for what is to come.

I greet all the Maltese and Gozitans.
