Voter turnout in the General Election 2026 showed a higher number of people cast their votes than in 2022.
Early afternoon figures showed voting levels up be around 3% and that trend continued until the polls closed at 10pm Saturday night.
According to the Electoral Commission, 311,949 votes were cast by the time polling stations closed at 10pm on Saturday night.
There were a total of 356,832 eligible voters in this year’s election, up nearly 2,000 on 2022 election. Nearly 15,000 did not collect their vote.
Electoral Commission figures put the estimated turnout at 87.42%, that figure included early voters.
