Educational visit promotes animal welfare awareness among children

Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Welfare Alicia Bugeja Said visited St Jeanne Antide School in Gudja

Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Welfare Alicia Bugeja Said visited St Jeanne Antide School in Gudja together with Commissioner for Animal Welfare Elliot Magro, where they met children aged between five and six.

The educational visit focused on promoting awareness about responsible pet ownership and the importance of treating animals with care, respect and empathy. The children took part in an interactive presentation covering their responsibilities towards pets, including providing proper food, a safe environment, veterinary care, love and attention.

The activity formed part of Animal Awareness Week initiatives aimed at encouraging a culture of animal welfare from an early age.

Bugeja Said stressed the importance of educating children about animal welfare, while Magro highlighted the role of early education in fostering empathy, respect and responsibility towards animals. School Head Marion Cutajar also welcomed the initiative, noting its contribution to developing values such as empathy and respect among children.
