2027 Budget on Monday 26th October, says PM

The 2027 Budget will be presented on Monday, 26 October, Prime Minister and Labour Leader Robert Abela has announced.

The Budget will be the first of the current legislature, following the general election held on 30 May.

Addressing the Labour Government’s first 100 days, Dr Abela highlighted reforms to the Family Court, developments in sport and culture, and changes within the justice sector.

He also referred to a recent court judgment, stressing the need for caution before the prosecution decides whether to appeal.

Dr Abela highlighted reforms within the Police Force since the appointment of the Commissioner, as well as reforms in the media sector and stronger protections for journalists.

He also announced increased funding for school heads to support vulnerable children, describing the measure as an example of socialist principles in practice.

Looking ahead to the Budget, Dr Abela said Malta’s economic resilience would be reflected while taking account of the international situation. He also confirmed that fuel and energy subsidies will remain in place, describing the Budget as realistic in view of current circumstances.
