Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri announced that applications have opened today for Gozitan athletes wishing to represent Gozo at the 2027 International Island Games, which will be held in the Faroe Islands between the 3rd and 9th of July next year.

Since Gozo joined the International Island Games Association (IIGA) in 2022, the island has already made a positive impact. Team Gozo’s participation in the Guernsey 2023 and Orkney 2025 Games resulted in a total of seven medals, along with several strong performances across a number of sporting disciplines.

Minister Clint Camilleri stated that “the fact that in a short time we have managed to achieve seven medals and a number of positive results is testament to the talent, dedication and hard work of our Gozitan athletes. These successes continue to confirm that Gozo has the potential to compete successfully at an international level. The opening of applications today is the first step towards re-forming a strong team to represent Gozo in the Faroe Islands.”

Minister Camilleri continued to say that Team Gozo will once again make every effort to achieve success in the Faroe Islands and that the opening of applications today will ensure that the best talents are identified and selected.

Interested athletes should submit their application online at gozo.gov.mt or via the mygozo app by no later than 17th August. The Selection Board will be carefully examining each application to verify that the athletes meet the established criteria and select the best talents to form Team Gozo.

Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by encouraging all eligible Gozitan athletes to apply and be part of the Team representing Gozo at the 2027 International Island Games.
