The Żabbar Moat, opposite Bieb is-Sultan, will once again be offering a unique environment as it will host another edition of the Żabbar Beer Fest between Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th July.
Details about the festival were announced by the Minister for Local Government and Public Works Alison Zerafa Civelli, together with the President of the Maria Mater Gratiae Philharmonic Society of Żabbar, Mario Aquilina.
This year’s edition will also be one with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Through the collaboration between the Maria Mater Gratiae Philharmonic Society and the Cleaning and Maintenance Division, the Notre Dame Fosse, which until recently was a derelict space, has been cleaned and prepared to host this cultural event.
In this way, the moat has been transformed into an open and attractive space that will offer a unique atmosphere of entertainment for all those who will attend.
Minister Alison Zerafa Civelli said that this project is a clear example of how collaboration between Government, Local Councils and voluntary organisations can give new life to public spaces for the benefit of the community. She maintained that the work of the Cleaning and Maintenance Division does not stop with cleaning alone, but also contributes to creating safer, cleaner and more accessible spaces where cultural and social activities can take place.
“Through the commitment and dedication of the workers, we are giving new life to public spaces, so that today they can be used by the community for cultural activities. This is a clear example of how investment in maintenance and cleanliness leads to a better quality of life for citizens,” concluded Minister Zerafa Civelli.
President of the Maria Mater Gratiae Philharmonic Society of Żabbar, Mario Aquilina explained that this year’s edition will be bigger, thanks to the help and support provided by the Government, also through the Arts Council Malta.
Kyle Magro, a member of MMG Promotions, also spoke, explaining that on Friday, July 3rd, there will be a show by legendary German DJ ATB. Best known for his numerous musical successes and unique shows at popular festivals around the world, ATB will be making a very memorable return to this island.
Saturday, July 4th, will be dedicated to rock music, as Achtung Babies, one of the most renowned U2 tribute bands on an international level, will perform for the first time in Malta.
A number of well-known Maltese artists and DJs will also take part during the two evenings, including Tenishia, Clay C, Ziggy, Memphis Mac, Pierre Cordina, Cathy K and Sussu, who together will offer a varied entertainment program.
In addition to music, attendees will be able to enjoy interactive activities, and a dedicated area for children.
As part of the commitment to sustainability, a reusable cup initiative will also be introduced during the festival, with the aim of reducing waste generation and encouraging the use of reusable products.
The festival is being organised in aid of Puttinu Cares. Activities will start from 7:00pm onwards on both evenings, while entry to the event is free.
