The Futsal Malta Association held an Extraordinary General Meeting together with its Annual General Meeting, during which several amendments to the association’s statute were discussed and approved.
The amendments, proposed by the association, were aimed at strengthening the governance framework of the Futsal Malta Association and ensuring greater compliance with the regulations of the Malta Football Association (MFA) as well as the requirements and guidelines of the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AIMS).
During the meetings, members were presented with the administrative report outlining the association’s activities and achievements over the past year. Several initiatives and development projects were highlighted, demonstrating the continued growth of futsal in Malta. The financial report was also presented, confirming that the association concluded another successful financial year.
In his final address as President of the Futsal Malta Association, Perit Mark Borg thanked everyone who contributed towards the development and success of futsal in Malta throughout his tenure. He highlighted a number of significant milestones achieved during his leadership, including the establishment of the women’s futsal league, the introduction of Video Support for referees, and the first steps towards securing new premises in collaboration with the MFA and the Central Government.
The meeting also appointed a new Executive Committee for the 2026-2029 term composed of:
• President – Nathaniel Jones
• Vice President (Operations) – George Frendo
• Vice President (Branding & Marketing) – Kurt Bonnici
• Secretary General – Andy Mangion
• Treasurer – Clayton Scicluna
In his first address as President, Mr Nathaniel Jones thanked the clubs for the trust and confidence they had placed in him to lead the association into its next chapter. He also expressed his appreciation to the newly elected committee members for their commitment to the continued development of futsal in Malta.
Jones reserved special thanks for Perit Mark Borg, Mr Kurt Rizzo, Mr Matthew Borg, Mr Stefan Cutajar and Mr Anthony Azzopardi for their valuable contribution as members of the outgoing committee and wished them every success in their future endeavours.
With the appointment of the new Executive Committee and the approval of the statute amendments, the Futsal Malta Association now looks ahead to a new chapter, committed to building on recent progress and further strengthening the sport’s position both locally and internationally.
