Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced an €829 million transport and infrastructure package aimed at easing congestion and improving mobility across Malta.
The plan includes major junction upgrades at Barrani/Bir id-Deheb, Paceville, Qormi Imghallaq and Burmarrad, alongside continued investment in the national road network. Measures to tackle parking shortages include underground parking facilities, expanded use of private car parks at night, and residents’ parking schemes.
Government also pledged to develop a rapid transport system over the next 15 years, expand Malta’s fast ferry network, and continue electrifying the public transport fleet, with Gozo’s bus fleet expected to become fully electric this year.
