Hibernians slapped with player bans and fines by UEFA

Hibernians were fined €13,500 while three players, the coach and the team manager were suspended following the UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying round against Figa FC.

The Paolites had won the first leg 1-0 in Riga but in the second leg, a goal six minutes in added time enabled Riga to force extra-time and go on to win by scoring another two goals to reach the play-off round to win 4-1.

A series of controversial decisions throughout the game by Irish referee Rob Hennessy sparked harsh protests by the Paolites.

Andrei Agius and Bjorn Kristensen were handed a five-match ban while Ferdinando Apap was suspended for four matches.

Coach Stefano Sanderra and team manager Jesmond Abela were also banned for five matches.
