The opening matchday of the Enemed Futsal League 2026/27 qualifying phase has been completed, with five matches played at the National Sports School between Wednesday and Sunday.
Lija Athletic started their season with a 5-3 victory over the Malta Football Association Under-17 Selection. Andrea Rufa stood out with a hat-trick for Lija and was selected as the Go&Fun Player of the Match.Luxol St Andrews, the reigning champions and winners of all the trophies last season, started the new campaign with a 6-2 victory.
Despite finding a good opponent in Marsaskala during the opening stages, Luxol eventually managed to take control of the match. Sant’ Anna Coriolano Leanderson was named the Go&Fun Player of the Match.Naxxar Lions recorded a 9-4 victory over Siġġiewi in a meeting between two sides returning to the Futsal League.
Edson Cerqueira Farias produced an excellent performance for Naxxar, scoring five goals, and was selected as the Go&Fun Player of the Match.University of Malta Futsal made a very convincing start to their campaign with an 11-0 victory over Żejtun Corinthians. Their performance gave an early indication that University could be a very strong side this season.
Andre Cachia scored twice and was named the Go&Fun Player of the Match.The programme concluded on Sunday with the Malta Football Association Under-19 Selection recording a 9-1 victory over Birkirkara AFC. Despite the heavy scoreline against them, Birkirkara also created several opportunities and struck the woodwork several times during the match.
Luke Urpani was selected as the Go&Fun Player of the Match.
