The fifth edition of the ‘A Night at the Palace’ concert is successfully held
On Wednesday evening at the Girgenti Palace, the fifth edition of the ‘A Night at the Palace’ concert was successfully staged with the participation of the National Philharmonic Orchestra.
During the concert, donations were collected in aid of Hospice Malta so that it can continue with the assistance it provides through palliative care, along with support for patients and their families.
With the theme ‘Maltese Melody’, this year’s edition celebrated the songs and melodies that over the years have shaped the Maltese musical identity, from classics that have remained in the collective memory to songs from more recent times.
The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Kevin Abela and with the participation of several guest singers, gave new life to these melodies in a musical evening in the wonderful atmosphere offered by the Girgenti Palace.
The evening was also dedicated to the memory of Maestro Aurelio Belli, in recognition of his important and lasting contribution to the music and cultural heritage of our country.
In a comment during the evening, Dr Lydia Abela said that the best way to remember Maestro Aurelio Belli is precisely through the music he loved so much and to which he dedicated a large part of his life. She maintained that the legacy he left through his music will live on and continue to touch all those who were lucky enough to meet him or enjoy his talent.
Dr Abela also spoke about the importance of the work of Hospice Malta, particularly in difficult moments where the patient and his family need not only medical care, but also support, companionship, compassion and dignity. She praised the invaluable work that Hospice Malta carries out through palliative care services and the support it provides to patients and their families.
Dr Lydia Abela, together with her daughter Giorgia Mae, met with many families who attended this evening with a noble cause and thanked them for their generosity.
