Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri visited the ongoing preparations for the 2026 Agriculture and Crafts Exhibition, at the Villa Rundle Gardens, in Victoria. The exhibition, which will be held on the 14th and 15th of August, is part of the traditional activities of Santa Marija. During the visit, the Minister was briefed on the work underway to complete the exhibition spaces, stands and different areas, while he met with workers and organisers involved in the preparations.
Minister Clint Camilleri thanked the workers, the organisers, the Agricultural, Industrial and Cultural Society, the farmers, the villagers, the artisans and all the volunteers who are contributing to making this exhibition a success once again. He stated, “As I visited the preparations, I am satisfied with the commitment and dedication of all those involved in making this exhibition a success once again. The Agriculture and Crafts Exhibition is much more than a traditional activity; it is a showcase of the Gozitan identity, of the tireless work of our farmers and villagers, of the skill of the artisans and of the quality of the local product. By continuing to invest in these initiatives, we will be strengthening our cultural and rural heritage and passing it on with pride to future generations.”
The history of the Agricultural and Craft Show dates back to 1855, it is one of the oldest and most established cultural activities in Gozo and forms an important part of the Santa Marija celebrations. Over the years the show has evolved from an agricultural exhibition to a full-fledged celebration of rural life, local produce, animals, crafts and Gozitan identity.
The exhibition program will include displays of fruit and vegetables, poultry, rabbits, animals, agricultural machinery and handicrafts, along with activities for children, traditional food and folkloric entertainment.
Minister Camilleri concluded by inviting Gozitan and Maltese families, as well as all those who will be visiting Gozo during the feast of Santa Marija, to attend this exhibition and join in the celebration of everything that makes Gozo unique.
