The Malta National ‘A’ Team will take on Liechtenstein in an international friendly match during the September window.

The match will take place on 27th September 2026 at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali, as the team continues to prepare for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures. Kick-off is at 18:30hrs (CEST).

The team, led by Head Coach Emilio De Leo, will be commencing their UEFA Nations League campaign in September, in a group joined by Andorra and Gibraltar. The international friendly will take place between Malta’s away opener against Andorra and the home fixture against Gibraltar.

This will be the first year during which the changes to the FIFA international match calendar will come into effect. Instead of three autumn international windows, there will be two breaks for national team matches, with the September and October windows being combined into one extended window, encompassing up to four matches. The November international window will remain unchanged.

De Leo will be using the friendly to assess players’ form and to further integrate players within the squad, while also maintaining match fitness during a longer September window. The encounter represents a great opportunity for the National Team to continue gaining further international experience.

Tickets for the international friendly match will be made available at a later date, with further information to be announced through the official Malta FA channels.
