KM Malta Airlines today marked the launch of its new direct service between Malta and Palermo, with the inaugural flight operating on the evening of Saturday 30th May 2026.
The new Sicilian route becomes the airline’s second new destination to officially commence operations this week as part of its Summer 2026 schedule, following the successful launch of services to Málaga earlier this week.
To commemorate the occasion, Palermo Falcone–Borsellino Airport (PMO) organised a special ribbon-cutting ceremony upon arrival of the inaugural flight, welcoming passengers and crew to celebrate the strengthening of connectivity between Malta and Sicily.
At the same time, Malta International Airport welcomed passengers arriving on the
inaugural Palermo–Malta service, marking another important milestone in enhancing
regional connectivity across the Mediterranean.
The new route operates three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and
Saturdays.
Palermo, the capital of Sicily, offers visitors a vibrant mix of history, culture, and
gastronomy. Travellers can explore iconic landmarks such as Palermo Cathedral and the Norman Palace, experience the lively atmosphere of the Ballarò and Vucciria street markets, or enjoy Sicily’s renowned culinary traditions and street food culture.
Palermo also serves as an ideal gateway to western Sicily, with easy access to destinations including Mondello, Cefalù, Segesta, and Erice.
