Donald Trump has confirmed the US has launched “major combat operations” against Iran.
In a video on his Truth Social media site, he said Tehran’s “menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world.
Iran has responded by launching attacks against the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet centre in Bahrain as well as multiple US military facilities in the Middle East.
The US has taken part in strikes with Israel against Iran.
