Former Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced he is to stand down as an MP.
Keir Starmer, who resigned as PM in July, had previously said he would remain as MP until the next General Election, due in 2029.
However, just a few hours before his successor Andy Burnham faces his first Question Time in Parliament, Keir Starmer announced he was stepping away from politics to work on issues such as violence against women and international affairs.
