Malta welcomed European experts, professionals and representatives in the field of sustainable mobility during the Sustainable Urban Mobility Mixer, organised as part of the annual EIT Urban Mobility Specialists Network Summit. The event marked one of the latest initiatives of the UrbanMinds project, a collaboration between Malta and Bulgaria that aims to strengthen skills, innovation and knowledge exchange in the field of sustainable transport.
The project, in which the Ministry for Sustainable Mobility also participated, offered training opportunities, professional guidance and practical experience to participants developing their careers in this sector. Through these initiatives, participants had the opportunity to better understand how to design and implement innovative policies and solutions in the field of mobility.
Minister for Sustainable Mobility Chris Bonett emphasised the importance of cooperation between European countries in order to address common transport challenges.
“The future of mobility cannot be built by one country alone. We must continue to learn from each other’s experiences, share knowledge and adapt solutions to the realities of our country. Initiatives like UrbanMinds show how European cooperation can lead to new ideas and concrete solutions that improve the way we travel,” said Minister Bonett.
The Minister reiterated that this collaboration is in line with the Malta in Motion vision, which aims to lead to a more efficient, integrated and sustainable transport system. He stated that the Government will continue to encourage international collaborations that strengthen innovation and help develop mobility solutions that address the country’s needs.
