Prime Minister Robert Abela has called for the Mediterranean to be treated as a European priority.Dr Abela was speaking during the MED 9 Summit in Split, Croatia, where leaders of the nine Mediterranean EU member states are meeting.
He said discussions at the summit had reaffirmed Malta’s position at European level that greater attention must be given to the Mediterranean.
According to Dr Abela, the region is at the intersection of security, trade and Europe’s climate resilience.He stressed that decisions affecting the Mediterranean would ultimately have an impact on the whole of Europe.
