Minister for Housing and Lands Owen Bonnici announced an investment of €762,021 in beautification works in 11 Housing apartment blocks in Ta’ Xbiex, which will benefit 91 families.
The works began last February and are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
During a visit to the site, Minister Bonnici said that this investment demonstrates the Government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of Housing Estates residents and maintaining residential buildings in good condition.
Minister Bonnici stated that these works not only enhance the aesthetic aspect of the locality, but also contribute to a safer and more sustainable environment for the families living in these apartments.
Through a program dedicated to the improvement and maintenance of Housing Estates, extensive works are being carried out on the facades, roofs and common areas of residential blocks, with the aim of improving the state of the buildings and the quality of life of residents.
Among the works being carried out in these Blocks in Ta’ Xbiex are the removal and cleaning of the stonework on the facades, the opening of the wires and plastering, the repair of the concrete of the balconies, painting and plastering, as well as the installation of vent covers. On the roofs, general cleaning will be carried out, application of a liquid membrane, plastering and painting of the external facades and stairwells, organisation of the water tanks and pipes, as well as the removal of asbestos where necessary. The common areas will benefit from plastering and painting of the internal walls and ceilings, painting of the stair railings, repair or improvement of the lighting system, installation of new intercoms where necessary, replacement of wooden meter cupboards with aluminium ones, works on the tiles and marble, as well as replacement of the common openings.
Also present for this visit were Permanent Secretary Ramon Deguara, Chief Executive Officer of Housing Projects Solutions Marisa Marmara, Chairman of the Housing Authority Robert Ducker, and Executive Secretary of the Ta’ Xbiex Local Council Simeon Nechev.
