A New Chapter for Hibernians FC

At the Annual General Meeting of Hibernians FC, members approved a motion to transform the club into a Sport Limited Liability Company (SLLC) and to welcome Sunday Ventures as the club’s majority owner — marking a truly historic step forward for Hibernians and for Maltese football.
OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE
Sunday Ventures — Majority shareholding
Ranier Bezzina — Significant minority shareholding
Members’ Foundation — 10% (per SLLC legislation)
The Bezzina family, who have guided this club with dedication for close to 50 years, will remain an integral part of our future. Ranier Bezzina continues as Club President, ensuring the continuity of family stewardship and the deep connection with Hibernians that our supporters know and cherish.
Mike Melby, Chairman of Sunday Ventures, will serve as Club Chairman, supported by his operating advisor Emiliano Salvarezza — former General Manager of Sampdoria — who will work closely day-to-day with President Bezzina and the team on the ground in Paola.
“Hibernians FC fits perfectly our multi-club ownership strategy, and we look forward to it being our first club competing in UEFA competitions. We are here for the long haul, and we will start building a resilient project — not made of quick wins, but aimed at building something meaningful, global and sustainable.”
Mike Melby, Chairman, Sunday Ventures
“This is a historic moment not only for our club but also for Maltese football as we become the first member of a Multi-Club Ownership structure. This will provide a multi-way pathway for talent in which Hibernians will play a central role.”
Ranier Bezzina, President, Hibernians FC
President Bezzina also extended his sincere gratitude to Malta Premier League Chairman Joseph Muscat, whose contribution was crucial in securing this agreement, as well as to MPL CEO Alan Abela, MFA Senior Vice President Matthew Paris, and lawyer Jason Azzopardi for their invaluable support throughout this process.
The closing of the deal is expected in the coming weeks as we prepare with excitement for the season ahead.
