Restoration of the facade of the Archpriestly Church of Mary Annunciation in Tarxien completed

 Ministers Owen Bonnici and Byron Camilleri inaugurated extensive restoration work carried out in front of the Archpriestly Church of Marija Annunciata in Tarxien. This was done with an investment of €100,000 from funds of the Malta Community Agency and with the participation and cooperation of the Maltese Council for the Arts.
The restoration of the facade of this Church, which was needed a long time ago, led to the fact that today there is a facade that not only looks better aesthetically, but the necessary maintenance was done in order to protect historical and cultural heritage in the heart of – locality of Tarxien.
The work involved cleaning the stone, replacing the stone where necessary, fixing plastic elements that were in the facade as well as removing the oil paint that was on the doors so that the original beauty has re-emerged.
Minister for National Heritage, Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici explained how the restoration of these churches in Malta represent an effort being made to preserve the historical heritage and cultural of our country. “The attention to detail and the use of traditional technique have resulted in beautifully restored facades that will continue to inspire and increase admiration for generations to come. We are committed to continue taking care of these historic buildings, which play such an important role in our communities and in the rich History of our country,” concluded Minister Bonnici.
The Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri reiterated that such projects are of great benefit because they benefit not only our communities but above all they continue to take care of what shapes us in the people that we are. Minister Camilleri stressed that he is satisfied that funds from the Community of Malta are going to projects that are much needed and through which they are bringing the past closer to the present by beautifying different parts of the country, in particular the heart of Maltese and Gozitan villages.
The Archpriest of the Parish, Rev. Christopher Ellul, claimed that “Thanks to these funds that the Parish benefited from, together with the generosity of the Tarxien people, we can now once again appreciate the beauty of the facade of our Church, which is an icon of our village.”
Present during the inauguration were also the CEO of Komunita Malta Joseph Mizzi and the Mayor of Tarxien Joseph Abela Galea.
