In a second letter to Prime Minister Robert Abela, Chris Fearne confirmed his intention to resign as Deputy Prime Minister and is withdrawing his nomination for European Commissioner.
Earlier, Prime Minister Abela had written to Chris Fearne asking him to reconsider his intent to resign but Chris Fearne maintained his position that he had done nothing wrong and was not guilty of any of the charges alleged in the Vitals inquiry report. He said that even though he was innocent of the charges, resigning was the “right thing to do”.
