Prime Minister Robert Abela during a visit to the company Adpro-Instruments Ltd

During a visit to the company Adpro-Instruments Ltd., Prime Minister Robert Abela said that the Government will continue to provide all the necessary support so that local and international companies that specialize in technology and therefore require trained and quality employees, continue to be attracted to Malta, helped to invest more and given the tools and space necessary to be more competitive.

“This company is living proof of this. A 25-year success story that has continued to thrive and invest in our country, thanks also to the help and incentives of Malta Enterprise,” said Dr Abela.

The visit actually marked the 25th anniversary of Adpro-Instruments’ operation in Malta. The company is a subsidiary of the German UWT GmbH Group and specialises in measurement technology, i.e. technology related to reading levels in containers with solid or liquid material for any application such as food, beverages, fuels, chemicals and others.

Today Adpro-Instruments employs 20 people and has increased its revenue by 15 times since it began operating in Malta.

During the visit, the company’s Managing Director Jesmond Desira explained how until 2025, operations in Malta were focused solely on standard sensor units. After 2025, Adpro-Instruments expanded its manufacturing in Malta and also began producing customer-specific sensor units that were previously only manufactured in Germany.

Prime Minister Abela noted that this development is a step that strengthens the company’s role in the Maltese market, “and is undoubtedly a certificate of confidence in the Maltese economy as what was concentrated in Germany is now starting to be manufactured in Malta as well.”

Mr Desira said that over the years the company has continued to invest in operations, people, technology and even processes. He also noted how in 2023 the German Group established a Development Department in Malta.

The Prime Minister pointed out that with the support of Malta Enterprise the company benefited from assistance and grants for investment and various projects. “These projects with the help of the Government were crucial for the company to strengthen manufacturing, invest in new technology and be more competitive. We are a Government that truly believes that we must continue to offer an attractive environment for specialized manufacturing, particularly through the skills, adaptability and diligence of Maltese workers.”

Dr Abela concluded by saying that all this is evidence of how much Malta is attracting investment and how competitive it is in a world where competition is high. “This goes hand in hand with the vision of Malta 2050, towards more wealth, towards a more resilient country and towards quality work.”

In a recorded message, UWT GmbH Group Managing Director Uwe Niekrawietz expressed satisfaction with Adpro-Instruments’ operations in Malta and said that he is very proud of what the company has achieved in the country. “I would also like to thank the Maltese Government for the support it has shown in making the Group’s journey to Malta a success.” Mr. Niekrawietz concluded by describing the employees in the Malta operation as “the company’s greatest asset.”
