Prime Minister Robert Abela: Investment from a Maltese family business that combines tradition, innovation and the potential of sectors such as agriculture and tourism
Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the Marnisi Wine Estate, an investment of over €5.8 million by a Maltese family business, of which €2.2 million came from European funds. A project that builds on over a hundred years of expertise in wine production and which will continue to strengthen a quality Maltese product while creating added value for sectors such as agriculture and tourism.
“This is exactly how European funds should work: not as an end in themselves, but as a catalyst for further private investment, creating productive assets, economic activity and opportunities that will remain in our country for many years,” said the Prime Minister.
Dr Abela noted that behind the Marnisi Wine Estate there is a history of a Maltese family enterprise that combines 107 years of experience in wine production with a new generation that continues to invest, innovate and build for the future.
The investment also combines tradition with modern technology and a commitment to sustainability. Marnisi is the only organically certified wine estate in Malta, with production methods that place importance on both product quality and environmental protection.
The Prime Minister also stressed the contribution that such investments can make to the Maltese tourism product. The Marnisi Wine Estate offers an experience that combines Maltese wine with agriculture, gastronomy, architecture and landscape, while continuing to strengthen the tourism offer in the southern part of Malta.
“When a Maltese wine reaches an international table and is recognised for its quality, it is not simply a bottle being exported. It is carrying the name of Malta with it,” said Dr Abela.
He concluded by saying that this investment represents confidence in Maltese enterprise, in the skills of our people and in Malta’s capacity to produce premium products that create value in our country and compete on an international level.
Prime Minister Robert Abela was accompanied by the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Supply Anton Refalo and the Minister for European Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer.
