Valletta recovered from going behind to beat Zabbar St Patrick 4-2 in the early kick-off at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
Zabbar went ahead on 17 minutes through Nicolas Lancioni.
Just after the half hour, Valletta equalised on 33 minutes thanks to an Andrea Zammit penalty.
Zabbar were then awarded a penalty, Mario Fontanella making it 2-1
60 minutes and substitute Neil Micallef headed Valletta level.
Valletta made it 3-2 on 79 minutes thanks to another Andrea Zammit penalty and two minutes later, Valletta doubled their lead when Diogo Tavares found the net.
