Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by the Minister for the Environment, Energy and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, Miriam Dalli, visited the Elysium Habitat Restoration Hub, in Għajn Tuffieħa, where he was able to see up close the work carried out by Ambjent Malta towards strengthening our country’s biodiversity and natural environments.
During the visit, the Prime Minister and Minister Dalli visited the areas, including greenhouses where indigenous trees, shrubs and plants are grown and cared for before being transferred to be eventually planted around Malta and Comino.
They also met with Ambjent Malta workers and spoke to them about the initiatives being carried out to rehabilitate natural landscapes and improve the quality of our country’s natural environment in various sites.
20 Ambjent Malta workers work from the Elysium Habitat Restoration Hub, carrying out various environmental works, including the planting of trees and indigenous and Mediterranean vegetation adapted to the Maltese climate, the restoration of degraded environments and the ongoing maintenance of various sites.
This work helps to strengthen the ecological resilience of our country and create greener spaces that can be enjoyed by families and future generations.
The Elysium Habitat Restoration Hub also has an educational function, as visitors, including children, who visit this hub have the opportunity to learn more about nature, biodiversity and the importance of protecting the environment around us.
Prime Minister Robert Abela concluded this visit with an informal discussion with the workers, during which their professional and continuous work in relation to the protection of biodiversity and the natural environment of our country was recognized.
