With reference to reports of a collapsed wall at Xemxija Hill, the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) confirm that they immediately attended the site.
Preliminary investigations indicate that no one was injured after a truck transporting machinery struck a wall. The collapsed material was immediately removed from the pavement.
Although no imminent danger was identified, the Authorities also confirm that they have issued an order for all works on the site to cease immediately, with the exception of remedial works, as a precautionary measure. These include works on the wall separating the site from neighbouring third-party properties.
The Authorities remind the public that any reports relating to construction sites or occupational health and safety matters should be made through Helpline 138. This enables the Authorities to be notified promptly and to investigate such cases without delay.
