New Cabinet 4 June 2026

Prime Minister Robert Abela unveiled his new Cabinet following last Saturday’s General Election which Labour won with a 22,000 majority.

Among some of the top moves, Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg has taken over the Health portfolio.
Chris Fearne, who was elected on two districts will become Malta’s Foreign Affairs Minister.
Clint Camilleri retains his position as Minister of Gozo while Anton Refalo remains Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

Malta is set to become first country to exit the European Union’s excessive deficit procedures as the Labour Government, led by Robert Abela brought Malta’s EDP below the 3% threshold, it now stands at 2.2%, among the lowest in Europe.

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to implement a ceasefire, US authorities have said.

If it holds it could be a crucial factor in the peace deal between the US and Iran.
