Energy Minister Miriam Dalli visits Tek Moulds Precision Engineering Ltd, emphasising the importance of energy stability for manufacturing supply chains

Against a backdrop of ongoing developments in the energy sector, Energy Minister Miriam Dalli visited Tek Moulds Precision Engineering Ltd, a local SME specialised in precision moulds.

Founded in 2003, the company operates in an energy-intensive sector with highly energy-dependent production processes. During the visit, SME founder Kevin Busuttil explained how the government’s decision not to increase energy prices has allowed a company like his to remain competitive.

Minister Miriam Dalli said Malta’s manufacturing strength depends on the resilience of its entire supply chain. “Companies like Tek Moulds Precision Ltd play a critical role in supporting other industries. Without them, larger manufacturers would struggle to rely on local suppliers, weakening the whole ecosystem. This network of specialised producers allows Malta’s manufacturing ecosystem to work well and flourish.”

Founded in 2003, Tek Moulds employs 34 people.

“In energy-intensive industries, price competitiveness is crucial. With the proper support, and the encouragement to invest in energy efficient equipment, Maltese companies can continue to operate competitively and efficiently,” Minister Dalli said.

Kevin Busuttil reiterated that stable and predictable energy costs are essential for planning, investment, and remaining part of larger manufacturing supply chains. Without such a support system, he said, operating costs would be much higher. He stated that, when compared to industrial rates in countries such as France and Germany, the current government measure was allowing Tek Moulds to save about 77% on energy bill.
