Alex Borg, leader of the Nationalist Party has said the party will soon unveil a new electoral programme focused on concrete measures and a long-term economic vision, including developing a new niche sector to position Malta at the forefront in Europe.
Speaking during a political event in Mdina, Borg described the country as being at a “decisive point,” where voters must choose between maintaining the current path or embracing a new direction.
He criticized the government for what he called inconsistency, arguing that even by its own assessment, a portion of its promises remain unfulfilled. He highlighted issues such as open spaces and quality of life, claiming these areas have seen clear shortcomings.
On the timing of the next general election, Borg said ongoing speculation is creating uncertainty for families, workers, and businesses. He questioned why this uncertainty exists if the government maintains that the economy is strong.
Borg emphasized that the PN is prepared for an election and confident in its ability to win, adding that simply narrowing the gap is insufficient—what’s needed, he said, is “real change” backed by a strong and forward-looking vision.
