A 50-year-old man was arrested by an off-duty police officer shortly after he allegedly committed a theft.
On Thursday evening, while the officer was inside the church in Żurrieq, people informed him that several items such as mobile phones and bags had just been stolen.
He immediately went to search for the person involved and managed to arrest him in Blue Grotto Avenue. When he was searched he was found to be in possession of the stolen items.
Police investigations are still ongoing.
