GWU together with the Government assists Aviation Cosmetics workers
The Maritime and Aviation Section within the General Workers’ Union is in continuous discussions with the Ministry for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, where Minister Silvio Schembri assured the Section that the workers at Aviation Cosmetics will be paid the wages due to them and that their employment will also be guaranteed.
The Maritime and Aviation Section Secretary, Jurgen Azzopardi, said that after he was approached by the workers, some of whom had not received their wages since January, the Section took immediate action. This included filing an urgent application in the Court requesting that the funds required for the payment of the workers’ wages be released. The Department of Industrial and Employment Relations (DIER) was also informed about the situation.
Workers guaranteed they will be paid and that no one will lose their job
Meanwhile, the Section entered into discussions with the Ministry for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, where Minister Silvio Schembri guaranteed that the workers will receive all the wages due to them while also safeguarding their employment. The Minister also informed the Section that more than one investor has shown interest in the company. Investors who are ready to take over the entire operation, including the employees.
