On Tuesday afternoon, police arrested four people in connection with the importation into Malta of around 12 kgs of substance suspected to be cocaine from Sicily.
After two of the arrested, a man and a woman, arrived in Malta by catamaran with a vehicle from Sicily, police followed them to Gudja, where they met with two other men.
The Police intercepted the vehicle and during a search carried out in it, the suspected drugs were found hidden in a compartment. The four people were subsequently arrested.
The street value of the drugs is estimated to reach €600,000.
They are expected to be arraigned in Court later.
