Electricity supply being restored following interruption at gas facilities

Enemalta is continuing to restore electricity supply following an interruption at the gas facilities serving the LNG power station at around 6:00pm this evening, which resulted in the temporary loss of approximately 200MW of generation capacity.

The interruption affected electricity supply in a number of localities across Malta. In response, Enemalta immediately activated standby generation plants and implemented contingency measures to maintain and progressively restore supply across the network.

In the meantime, Enemalta has already restored supply to almost all affected consumers through alternative generation sources, with the remaining areas being reconnected progressively.

Enemalta’s teams remain focused on returning the system to normal operating conditions as quickly and safely as possible and will continue monitoring the situation closely.

Further updates will be provided as necessary.
