BCA warn of dangers of strong winds

The Building and Construction Authority, BCA, refers to the Yellow Warning issued by the Civil Protection Department on Saturday and which is effective tomorrow, Sunday, February 1, 2026.

The Authority reminds and also appeals to all contractors, developers, site managers and operators in the construction sector of their obligation to take all necessary precautions in order to protect the safety of workers, the public and the properties of third parties.

Operators are requested to:

• Remove material, equipment, scaffolding parts and temporary structures that can be carried by the wind

• Ensure that cranes, lifting equipment and temporary structures are safe • Continuously assess site conditions

• Ensure adequate supervision and compliance with requirements The BCA will continue to closely monitor the development of the situation and operators are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow the updates that will continue to be issued as necessary. Meanwhile, the Authority reminds that tomorrow Sunday, no construction work is permitted, however, emergency work may be carried out only to remove any danger.
