European Union leaders have agreed to provide Ukraine with a €90bn loan to fund its war effort for another two years.
European Council President Antonio Costa made the announcement after an intensive day of talks in Brussels.
“We have a deal. Decision to provide 90 billion euros ($106 billion) of support to Ukraine for 2026-27 approved. We committed, we delivered,” Costa said in a post on social media.
It will only need to be repaid once Russia has paid reparations, he said.
Ukraine and President Zelenskky had been hoping the EU would agree to unlock billions of euros in frozen Russian assets.
