Social Housing Minister Roderick Galdes

The Minister for Social and Affordable Housing Roderick Galdes has launched an information campaign on the wide range of schemes and measures available in the housing sector.

The Minister explained that the ‘Ħabbtilna’ campaign is an invitation to the public to either personally or virtually approach the Housing Authority to be informed about the schemes and measures that exist at their disposal. Minister Galdes said that there are currently 23 schemes or measures operated by the Housing Authority. He reminded that for next year there is a record expenditure in the social and affordable housing sector of more than €81 million.

Among the schemes listed by Minister Galdes are those for First time buyers – which has €8 million voted for next year; Equity Sharing with a vote of €5 million; Housing Benefit with an investment of almost €12 million; regeneration and schemes for persons with disability with a vote of over €8 million; the Nikru Biex Nasassitu scheme which has a vote of €12 million.

Chief Executive of the Housing Authority Matthew Zerafa said, “We are continuing to simplify our customers’ experience by presenting our schemes in a clearer, more interactive and easier to understand way. With the ‘Ħabbtilna’ campaign, we are inviting anyone who wishes to take a step in this sector to share with us their situation and see together which schemes could be of help.”
