The top six places in the Opening Round of the Yo Health Malta Premier will be all but settled today as the final round of matches get underway.
Currently, Valletta top the table and are sure to confirm their Top Six place, they play Zabbar St Partick on Sunday.
Likewise, second placed Floriana are safe with the same number of points as Valletta. Floriana take on Sliema Wanderers this evening at the Centenary Stadium. If Sliema beat Floriana, then the cat would really be among the pigeons. Fourth place would be secure for them and would leave three clubs scrambling for two places.
Hamrun Spartans are third on 19 points as they get ready to take on Birkirkara who are sixth on 16 points. It is tight, a slip by Hamrun could see B’kara draw level with them. Likewise, should Hamrun win, they would be assured of a top six finish.
The big problem is who will join these clubs in the top six.
Marsaxlokk are fifth on 17 points, they play Hibernians who are seventh on 14 points. If Marsaxlokk win they clinch their Top Six spot.
As it stands, Hibs are in danger of dropping into the bottom six. They have to beat Marsaxlokk and hope other results go their way.
This should prove to be a riveting end to the Opening Round of the Yo Health Malta Premier.
