Minister for European Funds, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi

The Minister for European Funds, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, together with the Chief Executive of European Services in Malta (SEM), Rodrick Zerafa, visited the new facilities of the company FNG Supplies Co. Ltd in Rabat.

The company, which is one of the main importers of fruit and vegetables in Malta and which provides services to restaurants, hotels and other food establishments, benefited from around €100,000 in European funds through the Business Enhance scheme.

Through this support, FNG Supplies invested around €200,000 to move its operations from Wardija to a larger building in Rabat. The investment included a new cold room, an electric lifter and stacker, as well as improvements to the warehouse infrastructure to protect product quality and improve operational efficiency.

Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi praised the efforts of this company and stressed that this project shows how European funds are helping Maltese businesses continue to expand and innovate. “This is an investment not only in businesses, but also in workers and the Maltese business community,” the Minister said.

“The Government will continue to strengthen these schemes so that more Maltese enterprises can invest in technology, energy efficiency and the modernisation of their operations,” concluded Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi.

SEM’s Chief Executive Officer, Rodrick Zerafa said, “It is very satisfying for SEM to see such investments from European funds by businesses of all kinds. These investments show that with our help and the commitment of various business owners, European funds are translated into modern and sustainable practices that benefit consumers.”

This visit demonstrates how the European Union is supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in Malta in financing investments towards the expansion, diversification and innovation of their businesses.
