Details announced for animal welfare event to be held in Xagħra, Gozo

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo together with the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri announced that on Sunday, 5 October 2025, the Pet Fun Day will be held at Kola Mill Square, in Xagħra, Gozo. This activity is being organised by the Xagħra Local Council, with the support of both ministries as well as various other entities and organisations.

Pet Fun Day will offer a unique experience for families and all those who love animals. The program includes dog shows, educational sessions, information stands as well as essential services such as microchipping and veterinary advice. This is a day that combines entertainment and education, while raising awareness about the care and responsibility towards animals.

Minister Anton Refalo stated, “This activity is not only an opportunity for families and pet owners to enjoy a day full of activities, but also a clear message in favour of the proper protection of animals. I thank the Xagħra Local Council, animal welfare organisations, veterinarians, NGOs and all the volunteers who, with their commitment, are making this event possible. Thanks to this dedication, Pet Fun Day will be a memorable experience for everyone who attends.”

Minister Clint Camilleri explained, “All families are invited to come here with their animals. Furthermore, there will be various activities and informative sessions and it will certainly serve as a nice outing for all families in this typical village, in a beautiful area and therefore I encourage everyone to make an appointment for next Sunday here in the village of Xagħra opposite the Kola Mill.”

Xagħra Mayor Victor Curmi said “As a local council we are very proud to be organising the Pet Fun Day in Xagħra. This is an initiative that not only offers entertainment for all families, but also helps to continue to foster a culture of respect and care towards animals. I would like to thank all the Ministries and entities that are supporting this activity. This is one of many that we collaborate on together and thanks to this commitment we look forward to hosting a successful activity.”
