Qatar condemns Israeli airstrike in Doha as violation of international law

Qatar has strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike on its capital, Doha, calling it a “cowardly attack” and a “blatant violation of international law and Qatari sovereignty.” The strike, which Israel says targeted senior Hamas leadership operating from within the country, marks a significant escalation in the regional conflict.

Explosions were reported in the Katara district, a residential and cultural area of the city. Israel claims the strike was aimed at top Hamas figures, including Khalil al‑Hayya, who has reportedly operated from Doha for years.

Qatar, which has played a central role in mediating ceasefire talks and humanitarian negotiations between Israel and Hamas, said it has launched a full investigation at the “highest level.”

This is believed to be the first known Israeli strike on Qatari territory, and it has sparked sharp criticism from several countries and raised concerns about further regional instability. Qatar warned the attack could have serious implications for its future role as a mediator in the Middle East.
