Robert Abela used a mass rally in Żejtun to frame a forward-looking political message built around the slogan “Malta Aqwa” (“A Better Malta”), combining economic optimism with targeted social measures.

Among the highlights of his election campaign speech were:

  • Youth support: A proposed income tax exemption (up to €30,000 for three years) for young workers and startups, tied to the Kickstart programme. This is designed to ease entry into the workforce and entrepreneurship.
  • Housing: Under the “My First Home” scheme, the state would cover up to 25% of a property’s cost for first-time buyers—an ambitious intervention in a market where affordability is a growing concern.
  • Families: संकेत (signals) of further benefits tied to childbirth and early family life, though details are still pending.
  • Pensions: A commitment to increase pensions by at least €50 per week over five years, alongside a pledge that pensions will remain untaxed.
