A space for children and young people with disabilities to show their artistic skills

“Our vision is clear. Every child, regardless of their different abilities, deserves not only a good standard of living but a quality of life that has no limit.” This was the main message delivered by the Prime Minister Robert Abela during an art exhibition that was staged in the courtyard of Castille as part of the VB ArtBeat project, which promotes the artistic skills of children and young people with disability. This project pushed by The Malta Trust Foundation is supported by funding under a project scheme for voluntary organizations (VOPS).

Before the addresses were made, the Prime Minister together with his wife Dr. Lydia Abela toured the exhibition by the Foundation’s Founder and President Emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca while they met the artists and their families. Prime Minister Abela claimed that the fact that this exhibition is being hosted in Castile is another clear demonstration of the Government’s commitment to continue strengthening inclusiveness by giving space to children and young people who also have potential. He praised the works of the children and young people who showed their artistic skills based on the principles and concept linked to Villa Bianca, a place managed by The Malta Trust Foundation after support from the Government so that children and young people with disabilities roam in their artistic skills.

The Prime Minister said that various forms of art also help in the therapy of young people and children who deserve every opportunity and noted how in our country the incentives to help families with members who are persons with disability. He praised the work of the Foundation which is doing good and defined the initiative that took place at Castille as one that celebrates creativity. Musical performances were also staged by children and young people who attend Villa Bianca and addressed those present, the Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia Portelli and the President Emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
