Investment in health care technology continues in our country: MRI tests will begin to be carried out in Gozo as well

In the coming days the first MRI tests will begin to be carried out in Gozo thanks to the continuous investment that the Government is making in health care technology in our country.

This was announced during a visit to the General Hospital of Gozo by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Funds, Equality, Reforms and Social Dialogue Chris Fearne, the Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela , and the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri.

Through this investment in an MRI machine, another promise of the Government is being fulfilled that approximately 3,000 people resident in Gozo will be benefiting from it per year. Apart from the fact that the waiting time for the MRI will decrease, Gozo people will be able to be served in Gozo itself.

During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne explained that medical consultants order around a thousand MRI tests a week for various conditions and this MRI machine in Gozo will be helpful both for the Gozitan professionals and patients. He stated that the investment of €1.3 million European Funds from the React EU Fund will allow them to continue increasing the technological tools with which health professionals can offer the best care to patients.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela claimed that, “Today we are seeing another promise come true for the Gozitan people. What we are announcing today is part of the investment that the government is making for health care in Gozo, where apart from the investment in a number of health centers and clinics in the community, we are continuing to invest in ‘a medical device that is important to the patient’s health.’

Minister Clint Camilleri said that, “This is another promise fulfilled where the Gozo people will be able to be served in Gozo itself. This is a very important step when it comes to investment in health in Gozo and continues with a series of investments that have already been made and will continue to be made. This continues to show how much health in the island of Gozdija will remain a priority for our country.”
