Hundreds of booster doses began to be given to residents of old people’s homes around Malta on Monday morning. This process will see thousands of seniors receive the booster dose in the coming weeks.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne along with the Minister for the Elderly and Active Aging Michael Farrugia visited a nursing home in Floriana where booster doses were being administered.

Minister Fearne emphasized the importance of the most vulnerable people taking the booster dose in order for their immunity against COVID-19 to remain strong, especially in the coming months. where the flu season also begins. He reminded that immunosuppressed people will start receiving the invitation to booster appointments from today.

The Minister for the Elderly and Active Aging Michael Farrugia said that around 500 vaccinations will be given daily to those elderly people who live in Nursing Homes, as well as to those who are residents in San Vincenzo de Paul. .

This process is being carried out jointly by the Health Authorities and the Social Care Standards Authority.
